Chelsea Chapter of W.I.N.G.S.
W.I.N.G.S. was birthed in February of 1999, when God inspired the name along with a theme song called “God gave me Wings”. The very first W.I.N.G.S. was hosted by nine different denominations, where the highlight was and still is a citywide choir. The choir, made up of all the churches, sings as a city and not as any specific denomination.
We fly under the banner Jesus Christ, the savior of the world. He truly is what makes us unified!
WINGS Uplift Meetings
WINGS representatives meet on a monthly basis, have lunch, pray for our city, and plan the next conference. All are welcome to attend! These monthly meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of each month (except in June, July, and December) at 7 PM at the 513 Building (513 Pine) in Chelsea. These meetings involve a time of praise and worship and a devotion led by a different lady each month followed by a short business meeting. The Chelsea W.I.N.G.S women’s conference is held the first Friday and Saturday in April at the Chelsea High School.
What Goes on at the Conference?
Friday night starts with the choir, and a guest speaker, followed by an afterglow.
Saturday begins with a continental breakfast, fellowship, some great skits, and praise and worship.
Next, the workshops are taught by Christian professionals and dedicated laywomen on subjects that are relevant and empowering. We also have unique vendors that line the mezzanine.
At noon, a unique lunch is catered in. This year, soup in bread bowls and salad are on the menuwith the famous co-co flow chocolate fountain where your choice of fruit is covered in wonderful, warm chocolate!
How Does This All Happen?
The conference responsibilities are divided into slices as a huge pie with each involving church choosing the part they can do best. When all the churches bring their piece to the conference, the pie is complete, and so is the body of Christ.
There is a spirit of rest, joy, peace, restoration, and freedom that one wouldn’t think possible for such a wide variety of backgrounds. But, then again, think about it. What was that last prayer that Jesus prayed for his disciples? Was it not for unity? Was it not that they would be one, even as He and the Father are one (John 17:11)? Surely we must believe that the Son of God’s prayer is being answered! We truly have love one to another and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin.
Our focus is to lift up Jesus, support one another, and reach out our hands to minister to the needs of women everywhere that the world may see and know Jesus.
The sponsoring churches for the Chelsea chapter of W.I.N.G.S are: Assembly of God, 1st Baptist, 1st Christian, Condry Chapel, Epworth Methodist, The Sanctuary Christian Worship Center, Memorial Methodist, and The Nazarene church.
